Ultrascape mortar paving products were specified for paving around Covent Garden Square that was in a state of disrepair and required urgent attention, to not only make it safe but to restore its traditional qualities.
Pro-Bed HS fine bedding concrete, Pro-Prime slurry primer and Flowpoint rapid setting flowable grout were put through a extensive trial and approval process by English Heritage and Westminster City Council to ensure they complied with BS 7533.
VGC Construction was the project's sub-contractor, working in conjunction with Westminster TranServ to complete remedial works to around 500m2 of existing granite setts to the surrounding paved areas.
These works needed to be undertaken with minimal disruption to the public and local businesses, resulting in small sections of the street being closed off at a time and the work more quickly completed.
With only small sections of paving being completed at any one time, the contractors found the 25kg packaging of Ultrascape products easy to store and use.
