Three products are designed specifically for permeable paving applications: Boyne and Belvedere paving blocks are suited to domestic and light-traffic use, while HT blocks are suitable retail, commercial and industrial applications where medium to heavy traffic is likely.
Permeable paving allows rainwater to travel through the jointing material placed in specially designed gaps between the bricks. It then passes through a geotextile membrane that filters contaminants, and on through a single-size aggregate sub-base before percolating through to the soil below.
This type of total infiltration system eliminates the need for conventional gully drains.
Partial infiltration or attenuation-type tanked systems can be used to assist in complying with sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) specifications or planning requirements when the sub-grade is unsuitable to accept additional drainage water.
