Aquasystems International specialise in the design, supply and installation of a comprehensive range of aeration, mixing, decanting and scum removal systems or waste water treatment .

Aquasystems recently supplied and commissioned 6 AQUA TURBO® aerators for waste water treatment at Southern Water’s Hailsham North Works.

The project was led by 4Delivery Ltd and the scheme is part of Southern Water’s Capital Delivery Programm for AMP 5. The contract commenced in January 2011 and the units were installed to provide the Hailsham North plant in East Sussex with additional aeration for their existing oxidation ditch.

The 6 x 15kW AQUA TURBO® floating aerators were installed to upgrade the works and meet the increase in population equivalent demand attributed to local housing development within Hailsham and the neighboring areas.

The AQUA TURBO® aerators were delivered on time and within budget and commissioned without a hitch.

The existing 3 horizontal brush type rotors each with 30kW gearbox driven motors did not achieve the demands of the process and by installing the floating aerators the dissolved oxygen levels in the oxidation ditches was increased from 0.2 to upwards of 3-4 mg/l.

The AQUA TURBO® units are direct driven and are easily installed with mooring cables and one electrical connection. There are no gearboxes and maintenance is minimal due to all the wetted parts being in stainless steel.

The company has over 9,500 installations worldwide and an international reputation for supplying the highly efficiency aerators in activated sludge conditions. Thanks to the unique SCREWPELLER®, forces are reduced to a minimum and there is no need for a gearbox. This results in high efficiency and low maintenance and operating costs.
