Bardon Hitex is a polymer-modified asphalt, 14mm thin surface course designed for high speed, high traffic volume roads. It is a BBA/HAPAS approved product designed to give long term performance for motorways and trunk roads.
Hitex reduces noise, compared to HRA surface courses, and reduces spray. It is also resistant to permanent deformation and the use of a polymer modified binder minimises its susceptibility to fatigue in low temperatures. It also remains adhesive to the bitumen and aggregate in the presence of water.
The surface course system is approved for BBA/HAPAS within the range of 25mm 50mm. It is typically laid to a 35mm nominal thickness.
