Bardon Safedress is a BBA/HAPAS approved ultra thin surfacing asphalt material that can be laid 12mm thick incorporating polymer modified technology. The material is installed by pavers that incorporate an integral spray bar for applying a polymer modified bond-coat immediately before the asphalt layer.

The system is used as a thin road surfacing, for urban and rural highways. It is laid at nominal thicknesses between 12 mm and 18 mm, covering the Classification Type A as defined in Table 1 of the Guidelines Document for the Assessment and Certification of Thin Surfacing Systems for Highways.

The polymer-modified bond-coat forms a waterproof seal to the existing surface and creates a strong interlocking bond as the bond coat migrates into the matrix of the material holding it in place.

It can remove ruts from pavement in one pass and can be trafficked within 15 minutes after laying. It is about three times quicker to apply than other thin surfacing.
