An Ocean Professional MBR 500 installation at the Holiday Inn Hotel just outside of Winchester, meeting strict EA consent levels.
Located in the South Downs National Park, this hotel development comprises 140 bedrooms, conference facilities and a luxury restaurant. Due to the site location, the hotel was constructed over a sensitive drinking water aquifer, so the discharge quality of the final effluent was paramount.
The footprint of the system was 7x10m and sits under the car park with manholes easily accesible. It also has a number of special features for sample collection and monitoring of performance.
The gravity sewer discharges into a multi-staged primary settlement tank, giving efficient solids separation. Settled sewage then displaces into a number of process tanks, one of which houses the membrane modules. Due to the size of the hotel kitchen, a separate grease separation tank was supplied, along with a waste disposal separation tank to capture the putrescibles from the kitchen.
