Greenscape lightweight roof garden systems can be constructed on almost any flat roof that is capable of taking the weight, including lower load bearing structures.

Each system consists of an LDPE base sheet, a Fytodrain drainage board, a fine filter geotextile membrane layer, a Fytocell hard foam layer and root anchor netting, and a lightweight soil mix substrate that contains FytocellTM flakes.

The FytocellTM foamed aminoplast resin layer is key in the construction of the system. It is lightweight and water retentive. When applied to a depth of 100mm it has a maximum water retention capacity of 80%. The water is then supplied gradually and completely into the plant rooting and the substrate, which is composed of 60% soil and 40% FytocellTM flakes.

Once installed, roof gardens have a high compressive strength and are durable even under extreme climatic conditions. A roof garden creates a pleasant living and working environment and can prolong the life-span of the roof structure.
