The Downstream Defender® is an advanced hydrodynamic vortex separator for the removal of sediment, oil and floatables from stormwater runoff.
The Downstream Defender® is proven to be more efficient than other structural treatment devices: it uses only 50% of the footprint of conventional structures and is the only deviced that has internal components proven to prevent pollutant re-entrainment (or washout).

The Hydro StormTrain® Series
The Downstream Defender® is part of the Hydro StormTrain® Series of surface water treatment devices, a comprehensive toolbox for silt, sediment and pollutant removal as part of SuDS.
The Hydro StormTrain® Series comprises four products, First Defense®, Downstream Defender®, The Up-Flo™ Filter and Hydro Filterra™ that can be used independently or in combination to deliver a Treatment Train that meets the water quality stipulations of a site. They can also be used to protect, enhance or enable natural SuDS features such as ponds or attenuation tanks.
