SEL source control systems are complete sustainable drainage systems (SUDS) that have been developed in line with current guidelines.
The systems provide either infiltration or attenuation by incorporating multiple stages of water treatment and flow control directly beneath the finished surface of car parks and other hardstandings.
Stormwater is collected by SEL Permachannel® drainage channels, which also separate silt and oil from the water.
SEL Permafilter® Biomats are floating oil-absorbent mats that then capture any residual hydrocarbons and remove pollutants by biodegradation.
Water is then channelled into SEL Permavoid® structural void formers, which provide full or part infiltration when enclosed in SEL Sudstex Permafilter® geotextiles.
Full infiltration allows the run-off to be retained within the site boundary and returned to the underlying water course at source.
Part infiltration is suitable for areas where the permeability rates of surrounding soils are too low for full infiltration.
