Environmental / containment membranes

Environmental and containment membranes are used for protection against contamination, for creating impervious barriers between different substrates, and for containing large bodies of water and other liquids.

The thickness and material – commonly EPDM rubber, PVC, polypropylene, butyl and low or high density polyethylene – are chosen to suit particular applications, from pond lining to landfill capping and leachate management.

For wastewater treatment lagoons and tanks, the membranes can be used as liners and fixed or floating covers. Retention ponds, reedbeds and canals can also be lined and managed to provide stormwater run-off, prevent flooding and downstream erosion, and improve water quality. WRAS-approved membranes are safe to use with potable water in reservoirs and lakes.

Different geosynthetics boast varying levels of puncture and tear resistance. Jointing and seamwork can be done on site or in the factory, whilst pipe inlets, outlets and other liner details can be pre-fitted during manufacture.
