Stone quarries

Stone quarries supply natural building materials to the construction industry, stone specifiers, homebuilders, landscapers, the commercial sector and major contractors. Products range from paving and cladding for public and commercial spaces and buildings, to flooring, fireplaces, worktops and ornamental stonework for residences.

Masonry facilities are operated for the production of dimensional or dressed stone. These can include primary, secondary and profiling saws, CMC machinery, and lathes.

Sandstone is durable but easy to work. Quarried stone, such as hardwearing Yorkstone, is well suited to paving, building and landscaping applications.

Limestone has a particularly long history of use as a building material, for medieval churches through to 19th century banks. As such, it is particularly well suited to use in architecturally sensitive heritage areas.

Slate is typically used for high-quality roofing, floor tiles, wall cladding and landscape features. Products can often include fossil patterning, which allows for especially distinctive finishes.

Granite is an enduring material with a striking appearance, and is specified for public buildings, commercial buildings and monumental architecture features.
