Thermal insulation is available in many different materials and formats.

Rockwool and glass mineral wool are non-combustible insulation materials. They are supplied in slabs that can be easily incorporated into different types of wall and roof design, although rolls are easy to handle and can be conveniently rolled out where large areas must be covered.

Polystyrene is often used due to the efficient insulation values it can provide.

Sustainable insulation materials are becoming more prevalent and include natural wool, wood fibre, hemp, cork and recycled plastic.

Where insulation is to be retrofitted to a roof void, sprayed insulation is an option. For lofts or attics and floor voids, loose granular insulation is well suited. Blown insulation is used for hard-to-reach areas such as wall cavities.
